Since the year 2000 Yamaha Music Foundation Japan and its licensed Yamaha Music Schools in Asia have jointly organized the “Yamaha Music Scholarship in Asia. Through these years a considerable amount of scholarships were awarded to full-time music students which in Malaysia alone, a total of 90 students have been benefited from this scholarship.

The Scheme : The Yamaha Music Scholarship is aimed at nurturing and developing musical talents in Malaysia. It provides financial assistance to full-time music students who are currently studying at local University / College
The Scholarship: Six (6) successful candidates will be awarded a scholarship of Two Thousand Ringgit Malaysia (RM2,000) each
Who May Apply: Only Malaysian, full time music student:
a) who is not older than 22 years of age (born in OR after the year of 1994 ), majoring in either Piano, Electone Organ, Strings, Woodwind, Brass or Percussion at a University / College in Malaysia
b) i) having a minimum qualification of ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 or Yamaha Grade 5 for Piano, Organ Electone and Strings OR
ii) having a minimum qualification of ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall Grade 5 or Yamaha Grade 7 for other instruments not listed in (i)
How to Apply : 1. Complete the application form (next page) which should be countersigned and validated by your respective Principle / Head of Music Faculty / Professor
2. Audition Requirements:
a) Prepare two (2) contrasting pieces of approximately 10 minutes in length*
b) General Interview
*Please bring along the original copies of the pieces and a photocopied set for the scholarship selection committee as reference, which will be retained and destroyed after the audition
Closing Date for Application: 1 Feb 2016
Audition Date: 29 February & 1 March 2016
